The health and safety of our patrons, employees, and artists is our number one priority.

All patrons aged 12 and older, who are eligible* , must show proof of a booster shot received at least 7 days prior to the event or performance, in addition to proof of full vaccination (defined as two weeks after your final shot), along with a matching photo ID. In addition, we will require all children ages 5 to 11 to show proof of full vaccination (defined as two weeks after their final shot). If bringing a child under the age of 5, who is not eligible for the vaccine, please call the Box Office to purchase tickets. Children under the age of 5 will be required to show proof of a negative "rapid" antigen test taken within one calendar day prior to entry or a negative PCR test taken within two calendar days prior to entry.

All patrons must wear well-fitted masks that cover their nose, mouth, and chin when inside the facility unless they are actively eating or drinking in the lobbies. (Food and drink are not allowed in the theater.) A non-vented N95 mask is strongly recommended as a well-fitted mask to provide maximum protection. A well-fitted mask does not include a scarf, ski mask, balaclava, bandana, turtleneck collar, single layer of fabric or any mask that has an unfiltered one-way exhaust valve. Audience members who fail to follow the Front of House safety protocols will be promptly removed from the performance venue.

 


Breathe easy knowing that all ventilation systems in the War Memorial Opera House meet the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines.

 


Enhanced cleaning practices have been put into place, and we’ve hired extra cleaning staff.

 


Keep your hands clean with multiple hand sanitizer stations positioned on each level of the Opera House.

 


All of our front of house and backstage staff will undergo rigorous safety protocols and will also be required to show proof of vaccination to come to work. All front of house staff will also be wearing masks to keep patrons and themselves safe.

 


All of San Francisco Opera’s health and safety protocols have been developed with a group of University California, San Francisco (UCSF) doctors led by epidemiologist Dr. George Rutherford.

 


To provide a touchless option, you may access your tickets, including subscription tickets, on your mobile device by downloading the San Francisco Opera App at sfopera.com/mobile for performances at the War Memorial Opera House.

 


We're eliminating exchange fees for the 2022-23 Season. Please call the Box Office to exchange your tickets up to two hours before the performance.

If you have to miss a performance due to the following reasons related to COVID, please call the Box Office at least two hours before your performance, and they will work with you to exchange your tickets into another performance. All ticket sales are final and there are no refunds. If San Francisco Opera has to cancel a performance for any reason, we will offer full refunds.

  • You or someone in your group has tested positive for COVID-19 during the 14-day period preceding the performance.

  • You or someone in your group is not feeling well and exhibiting symptoms consistent with COVID-19.

  • You or someone in your group feel you represent a serious transmission risk for reason such as you are caring for someone who has COVID-19.
  • You or someone in your group cannot meet the health and safety requirements to attend the performance.

 


Food and drinks will be available for purchase to enjoy in the lobbies or at the two restaurants. We ask that all patrons keep their mask on in the lobbies when not actively eating or drinking. Food and drinks will not be permitted in the auditorium. including Boxes. Patrons must keep their mask on throughout the entire performance.
