Artists/Teaching Artist Call
San Francisco Opera Guild is excited to expand in-classroom, in-theater, and community programming for the 2023-24 school year and beyond. We believe that musical storytelling bridges cultural divides and that every voice should be heard.
We are seeking qualified and creative individuals for the following programs:
· Sing a Story
· Opera Together
· Book to Bravo!
· Voices for Social Justice
· Summer Conservatory
· Special Programs and Community Offerings
With the following skill combinations and experience with K-12 instruction:
· Singer-storyteller
· Director/Playwright
· Music Director/Composer
· Collaborative Pianist
· Classically trained singer-actors

Track one: Singer-storyteller
Please prepare an aria or art song of your choice and be prepared to tell us a short children’s story in an animated fashion. An accompanist will be provided.
Track two: Director/Playwright
Please be prepared to discuss an experience devising theater with you and give us a sense of your classroom/directorial style in an interview setting.
Track three: Music director/Composer
Please play us one of your original pieces and be prepared to talk about your experience creating music with young artists in an interview setting.
Track four: Collaborative Pianist
Please prepare two contrasting piano selections that may be performed with or without music and be prepared to talk about your experience working with young artists.
Track five: Singer-actors
Please prepare two contrasting arias, art songs, folk songs, or music theater pieces (one of the selections should be classical; one of the selections should be English). Accompanist will be provided.

Local Bay Area hires only who are eligible for legal employment in the United States; we do not provide housing and must have reliable transportation.
Employee Contract Rates:
Rehearsal, training, meetings: $30-50/hour
School performances: $100-200 per performance
Residencies: $100 per 90 minute team-taught class plus extra for prep
Travel reimbursement for distances 20+ miles away from your home base + tolls
