The Traviata Encounter

After the performance, head into the lobbies to encounter the rest of Violetta’s story, in her shoes.  Each themed area offers you delights for the senses: entertainment, experiences, and more! Choose your own path and soak up party areas inspired by the remaining scenes of La Traviata.

• Act II, Scene I: Country Garden (Grand Tier, Dress Circle Levels)

  In Act 2 Scene 1, Violetta and Alfredo have pledged themselves to each other and fled to the tranquil bliss of the country. Their romantic love has inspired the luscious transformation of the Grand Tier level, including an immersive garden on the outdoor Loggia that you won’t want to miss. Bask in Violetta’s pleasure garden filled with romantic corners and whimsical delights.

  Enter the Loggia from the south side of the Grand Tier level, second floor.

• Act II, Scene II: Flora’s Casino (Basement Level)

  In Act 2 Scene 2, Violetta has left Alfredo, after Alfredo’s father secretly pleads with her to return his son to a respectable life. To drown her sorrows, Violetta returns to the dizzying world of Paris’ sensual pleasures, joining her friend, Flora, at her debauched soiree. Join us in the Basement for our own illicit gathering, complete with games, liquor, and naughty entertainment.

  Live burlesque entertainment on stage (various times between 8:30 and 10pm)

• Act III: Tribute to Violetta (Street Level)

  In Act 3, Violetta succumbs to illness, but not before she is reunited with Alfredo and affirms their love. Join the Dancers of the San Francisco Opera Corps de Ballet in celebrating the legacy of one of opera’s greatest characters with a Parisian wake for the ages! Dancing, drinking, and street performers will culminate our revelries in honor of Violetta Valery!

  While supplies last, visit the flower cart to pick up something beautiful to adorn your look, offer your date, or add to the tribute to Violetta’s memory in the center of the main lobby.

  Global Gourmet will offer a menu of select cafe items on the Basement and Dress Circle levels.

  Services

  • Bathrooms are located on each level, with the exception of the Main Lobby (street level).
  • A First Aid station is located in the basement and is staffed with an EMT
  • Coat/bag check is available on the north side of the Main Lobby.  

  Safety

  • Safety is our priority.  Masks are required for all guests when not actively eating or drinking.·         
  • Breathe easy knowing that all ventilation systems in the War Memorial Opera House meet the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines.

  Please feel free to take as many photos as you like and share them with your friends on social media, tagging us at @sfopera. However, please refrain from recording any portion of the performance in the theatre.
