Taking place in Herbst Theatre on Friday, November 20, The Future Is Now features the 2026 Adler Fellows: sopranos Alexa Frankian, Sofia Gotch and Mary Hoskins; mezzo-soprano Sadie Cheslak; tenor Thomas Kinch; baritones Gabriel Natal-Báez and Olivier Zerouali; and pianists Brian Cho and Ji Youn Lee. Performing with the San Francisco Opera Orchestra under the baton of Sebastian Weigle, who is currently making his Company debut conducting The Marriage of Figaro at the War Memorial Opera House, the Adlers will perform scenes and arias from operatic works by Richard Strauss, Leoncavallo, Donizetti, Bizet, Cilea, Verdi, Korngold, Menotti and Wagner. Elio Bucky, a director with previous engagements with Palm Beach Opera, Cincinnati Opera and Wolf Trap Opera and a 2025 graduate of the Merola Opera Program, stages the Adler Fellows for this concert that caps the end of their season.
The artists concluding their fellowships with this concert are third-year Adler Fellow Thomas Kinch and second-year Adler Fellows Mary Hoskins, Ji Youn Lee and Olivier Zerouali. Continuing in the program in 2027 as second-year Adler Fellows are Alexa Frankian, Sofia Gotch, Sadie Cheslak, Gabriel Natal-Báez and Brian Cho.
