Legacy Gift Options
Your legacy gift will support the future of San Francisco Opera, where it will be used to enrich the operatic art form for decades to come. Your gift ensures that San Francisco Opera’s presence as a vital cultural resource in the Bay Area will continue.
When you tell us of your legacy gift, you become a member of our Bel Canto Legacy Society. As a member, you will be invited every year to several members-only events. This is our way of celebrating and thanking you for your generosity and foresight.
Ways to make a legacy gift
- Name San Francisco Opera as a beneficiary in your will or living trust, designating the gift of your choice (no minimum gift amount required).
- Name San Francisco Opera as a beneficiary of all or a percentage of your retirement plan or donor advised fund.
- Designate San Francisco Opera as a beneficiary (or owner and beneficiary) of your life insurance policy.
- Transfer cash or another type of asset, such as shares of stock, to a charitable gift annuity or pooled income fund which benefits San Francisco Opera. In exchange, you or a loved one receive income for life and an immediate income tax deduction.
- Give real property to San Francisco Opera during your lifetime, or as part of your estate plan.
- Create a charitable trust ($250,000 minimum is recommended) that pays fixed or variable income. You receive an immediate income tax deduction and possibly tax-advantaged investments, along with income for life or a set period.
