Mei Gui Zhang

Mei Gui Zhang is nominated for her radiant performance as Oscar in Verdi’s Un Ballo in Maschera. With a voice praised for its shimmering clarity and emotional depth, soprano Mei Gui Zhang is making waves across the opera world.

This coming season, she returns to San Francisco Opera as the bodhisattva Guanyin in the world premiere of The Monkey King 猴王悟空 by Huang Ruo and David Henry Hwang. Previously, she captivated audiences in Dream of the Red Chamber and Orpheus and Eurydice. A 2018 participant in the Merola Opera Program, Mei Gui Zhang, is one to watch.
