SFOpera - Directions and Parking

The War Memorial Opera House (301 Van Ness Avenue) and Diane B. Wilsey Center for Opera at the Veterans Building (401 Van Ness Avenue) are located in the vibrant Civic Center/Hayes Valley district between Fulton and Grove Streets.

Construction on Van Ness Avenue may impact travel time and bus lines 47, 49, and 90. Allow for extra time when getting to the Opera House.

Where to Park

Multiple parking options are available within walking distance to the War Memorial Opera House. Parking in and around the Civic Center area can be challenging and we advise planning extra time.

Performing Arts Garage

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION

The War Memorial Opera House is a short walk from the Civic Center BART and MUNI stations as well as the Van Ness MUNI station. Bear in mind that parking in the Civic Center area can be limited, especially during performances.

Bicycle Parking: Bicycle racks are located on Van Ness Avenue at Grove Street.

By Car

Rideshare: Rideshare services pick-up and drop-off using the white loading zone at 450 Franklin Street (located behind the Opera House). Due to construction for the SFMTA Van Ness Improvement Project, there is limited access to pick-up or drop-off at 301 Van Ness at this time.

Taxi Service: Grab a taxi after the performance at the Grove Street taxi ramp. First come, first served and based on availability.

Driving: For directions and up-to-date traffic reports, visit 511.org. Due to construction for the SFMTA Van Ness Improvement Project, heavy traffic may impact your arrival to the Opera House. We suggest you plan extra time when driving or consider using public transportation.
