The Opera in You

The Opera In You is a program consisting of a series of high-quality community workshops and events in storytelling and writing. This 5-part storytelling workshop (valued at $250) is offered for free and is open to anyone. We aim to allow individuals to find their voice, develop their stories, and share them with others. Our workshops are safe spaces where everyone can feel comfortable sharing personal tales and exploring stories about challenging topics. No one will be judged for their experiences, literacy, or language of origin, and confidentiality is of utmost importance.

At the conclusion of this workshop series participants will:

• Understand and appreciate the art of storytelling and the power of the spoken word
• Gain tools and strategies to improve the personal storytelling process
• Have one or more stories developed to a “sharing-ready” state
• Have an opportunity to participate in a showcase for friends, family, and the community to share their stories; and, if desired, have multiple opportunities to share with a wider audience

San Francisco Opera aims to demystify the art of opera by revealing the foundational elements of all performance art forms - the narrative, or the story.
