In Mary, Queen of Scots, composter Thea Musgrave brings one of history's most captivating figures to the stage with a score as bold and compelling as its heroine. Join us this September for our Page to Stage Book Club and take a deeper dive into the live of this infamous queen.
Choose from one of the following book club sessions:

The Opera in You Returns!

San Francisco Opera is thrilled to present a new season of The Opera in You, our celebrated series of free writing and storytelling workshops. Led by experienced and passionate teachers, workshops explore the unique experiences within us all as participants build storytelling literacy skills in a creative and collaborative environment. These workshops are offered free of charge and take place at library branches, community centers, online, and our home at the Veteran’s War Memorial. 

Our first workshops of the season:

  • Potrero Branch Library: Thursdays from 5:30-7:30, September 10 through October 8. 
  • Online: Tuesdays from 5:30-7:30, September 29 through October 27.

Page to Stage | The Opera Book Club

Our Book Club offers patrons of local libraries and San Francisco Opera to explore and discuss books that serve as the basis for the stories we tell on our stage. Book Club participants receive a free copy of the selected title and an invitation to the dress rehearsal of the opera at the War Memorial Opera House.

The Opera In You

The flagship program of Opera Unbound, The Opera in You is a series of free workshops that explore the unique experiences within us all as participants build storytelling literacy skills in a creative and collaborative environment. The Opera in You culminates in public showcases where participants are encouraged to share their story. All participants are invited to attend our dress rehearsals at the War Memorial Opera House.

Once Upon An Opera

Our programs for children and families are the perfect way to introduce young children to the world of opera. Stories, games, crafts, and singing allow children to explore musical storytelling in an accessible, engaging, and inclusive setting.
