First Act Workshops

Designed to foster a love of music and storytelling in youth ages 3 to 8 through performances, craft projects, and group activities, First Act Workshops make kid-friendly connections to what's on stage at San Francisco Opera, planting the seeds that will grow into a lifelong love of the arts!

Rooted in intentional learning and creative exploration, these hands-on workshops invite families to take part in the creative process together. Through music, movement, and art making, children are introduced to the magic of opera, visual arts, and storytelling in a fun, accessible way.

Each production-specific workshop brings the characters, musical themes, and stories of a particular opera to life, integrating social and emotional learning in ways that are as meaningful as they are memorable, making opera as simple as enjoying a delightful story.
