Meet Michael Bragg, San Francisco Opera’s Opera Librarian. A self-proclaimed Opera Nerd, Michael has an encyclopedic knowledge of vocal and operatic repertoire, which (as you can imagine) is an enormously valuable Company resource. Michael’s infectious energy and unyielding high spirits can, will and do bring a smile to anyone’s face. Hear from Michael why you should see the 2016–17 Season.

Andrea Chénier
It’s Les Misérables before there was Les Misérables!!! Sir David McVicar’s production is going to be stunning and I’m excited to hear tenor Yonghoon Lee in title role.

Dream of the Red Chamber
I am always thrilled to see new opera and this one is going to be sensational. Bright Sheng has written a beautifully lush score,  David Henry Hwang’s libretto is fantastic, and I am looking forward to seeing a Stan Lai production.

Don Pasquale
Though not as popular as other Donizetti operas, Don Pasquale is one of my favorites. It’s wickedly funny and full of his most memorable tunes. But most of all I’m stoked that Heidi Stober is back and playing the sassy Norina.

The Makropulos Case
Immortality, sex AND divas…what’s not to love?

My wish has come true with this new production! RETNA + Verdi = INCREDIBLE.

Madame Butterfly
I’ve seen and heard it over a dozen times and it never gets old. Lianna Haroutounian is going to be spectacular as Cio-Cio-San.

As a tenor, Rigoletto has a special place in my heart. I’m so looking forward to hearing the wonderful tenor Pene Pati sing his face off as the Duke.

Don Giovanni
Who doesn’t love a story where the bad guy gets exactly what he deserves? This opera is a masterpiece. Beautifully composed with a dramatic and poignant libretto. #SignMeUp

La Bohème
Every time I hear the end, I cry, I mean, every time! In my opinion, La Bohème is the perfect opera. The music, the story and the characters are so well written you can’t help but fall in love with this piece.
