Te Quiero - dijiste

"El quiero, dijiste"

María Grever, Composer

Artist Efraín Solís (baritone)
Pianist     Bryndon Hassman

Baritone Efraín Solís brings us “Te quiero, dijiste,” a song by the great María Grever (1985-1951), a student of Claude Debussy and Franz Lenhard. Grever was the first female Mexican composer to reach international acclaim with a catalog of hits including “Júrame” (“Swear to Me”), and “Cuando vuelva a tu lado” (“What a Difference A Day Makes”), which was made popular in English by singers such as Dinah Washington.

Reflecting on these tapings with pianist Bryndon Hassman, Efraín says, “Nothing will prove to you how much you love something, until you’re on the verge of losing it. Not being able to share music with others during so many months was debilitating for many of us musicians. I am so thankful to be able to sing and I hope these songs provide calm, respite, a moment of reflection, and love.”
