Mad about the boy

"Mad About the Boy"

Noël Coward, Composer

Artist Edward Nelson (baritone)
Pianist     Robert Mollicone

Baritone Edward Nelson does double duty - singing and playing piano! - for two Atrium Session offerings. First up is Noel Coward’s “Mad About the Boy” from 1932 (Kurt Weill’s “Here I’ll Stay” follows later). “Both were masters of drawing the audience in, phrase by phrase, before striking the final, emotional blow,” says the tour-de-force artist. "From Weill, one gets earnest sentiments delivered in the most sincere fashion, and from Coward… the exact opposite!”

Shares Edward: “I was raised in Southern California on a steady diet of wide-ranging musical styles, from the Eagles and Fleetwood Mac to Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston; rock, pop, jazz, with annual doses of classical music by way of summer concerts at the Hollywood Bowl.”
