Hold fast to dreams / For if dreams die /
Life is a broken-winged bird / That cannot fly.

For her third and final selection by Florence Price, soprano Rhoslyn Jones performs “Hold Fast to Dreams.” The song sets words by Langston Hughes (1902-1967), the towering Harlem Renaissance novelist, playwright, and poet. Through her friendship with composer Margaret Bonds, Price met both Hughes and contralto Marian Anderson.
