Here I'll stay
"Here I'll Stay"
Kurt Weill, Composer
| Artist | Edward Nelson (baritone) |

In the final offering of the Atrium Sessions, baritone Edward Nelson casts a spell with Kurt Weill and Alan Jay Lerner’s “Here I’ll Stay." “There’s a far land, I’m told / Where I’ll find a field of gold / But here I’ll stay with you," he sings in the idyllic song composed for the 1948 musical Love Life.
“The greatest challenge of playing piano and singing is making it look like it’s not challenging!,” shares Edward. “In order to be able to vocally and dramatically communicate the emotion of a song with an audience, the piano part has to be so ingrained in the hands that it becomes second nature. The great payoff is that the songs become a part of me in a way that can’t be replicated when only singing.”
