Email and Digital Marketing Manager

PURPOSE:  To create e-mail and digital campaigns that invite and inform audiences and grow revenue.

 EDUCATION:  Bachelor’s degree required, preferably with a degree in a related field.

EXPERIENCE:  Minimum two to four years of related work experience in marketing and web technologies.

PREREQUISITE SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Possess a strong understanding of email marketing technology.
  • Strong knowledge of HTML and CSS.
  • 2 or more years of experience using Wordfly, Prospect2, or other similar provider experience.
  • Experience with SMS technology and marketing strategies.
  • Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud Suite.
  • Strong writer and careful editor.
  • Stellar verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience providing audience segmentation analysis and email data reports.
  • Experience managing multilayered projects.
  • Detail oriented and ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline driving environment.
  • A collaborative spirit and ability to engage colleagues and leadership.
  • Excellent organizational skills and efficient time management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Proficiency in Tessitura revenue management system highly preferred.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently.
  • An appreciation of opera and classical music.
  • Schedule flexibility and willingness to work some nights and weekends for events and performance duty as needed.
  • Must perform the functions of the position in a safe manner.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Serve as primary content manager for SFO’s email program.
  • Assist in writing and editing all emails as needed.
  • Create, manage, route, and execute outbound e-mail communications for Marketing department and other patron-facing departments as needed.
  • Work with Creative Project Manager to create, manage, and coordinate e-mail request schedule in accordance with the departments’ marketing strategies and initiatives.
  • Ensure all emails are consistent in tone and language and reflect the overall strategy and brand of the institution.
  • Create, develop, and maintain a consistent email style guide across the organization and its various channels and departments.
  • Set analytics benchmarks and goals; compile and distribute reports on email analytics participation; make recommendations based on thorough evaluation of analytics.
  • Collaborate closely with Web and Ecommerce Manager to align marketing strategies with technology strategies including search engine optimization.
  • Manage SMS marketing campaigns.

 

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist and back-up Web and Ecommerce Manager in posting and maintaining most web pages for www.sfopera.com and affiliated websites.
  • Keep ahead of e-marketing trends, innovations and emergent interactive technologies; make recommendations on new features and applications to keep the San Francisco Opera's position as an innovator in the field.
  • Contribute as an active part of the marketing team supporting all audience development, patron retention, advertising, and promotional strategies to meet institutional goals.
  • Further organizational efforts in online ticketing and fundraising initiatives.
  • Assist in content creation for the company, including but not limited to social media content and articles for the San Francisco.
  • Opera Blog and other digital publications.
  • Attend evening and/or weekend performances/events as requested to perform related job functions.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
