Education and Engagement

For the safety of our community and artists, San Francisco Opera Guild will be offering live, hybrid and virtual options for schools in fall 2021 and move to in-person fully live engagement opportunities in 2022.

We believe that participation in the performing arts leads to deep appreciation of beauty and diverse points of view. Our programs help young people grow into curious and caring citizens with a strong sense of self and empathy for others.

After our great Italian adventure in April, 2018, this cultural and performing arts ensemble for teens enters its fifth year with exciting opportunities to sing, learn, attend performances, and travel!

From September to May, we hold weekly meetings, master classes and workshops, perform at recitals and community events and attend performances all over the Bay Area.

2021-2022: The Year of REIMAGINING

The world has shifted, and will continue to shift as we emerge from over a year of dramatic events. As we come to terms with our past regarding social injustices, exclusion, and systems of oppression, we are also faced with political division, economic challenges, and the impact of a global pandemic.

Music is a bridge.  Through the many months of darkness and isolation, students and artists of all ages have found hope and connection through music—it has been the bright light serving as an emotional buoy, keeping us afloat, keeping us sane, keeping us singing.

As we move forward we keep that light burning and reimagine the world we want to build—one of understanding, inclusivity, connection and trust.  Join us this year as we engage with students, artists and teachers virtually, and in-person, in imagining the possibilities.
