Samson and Delilah at AT&T PARK
Friday, September 28, 8 pm
AT&T Park, 24 Willie Mays Plaza, San Francisco

San Francisco Opera and the San Francisco Giants welcomed an audience of over 15,000 people to AT&T Ballpark on Friday, September 28. The crowd enjoyed Saint-Saëns’s opera Samson and Delilah, transmitted in high definition live from the War Memorial Opera House stage to AT&T Park's 3200-square-foot Mitsubishi Electric Diamond Vision scoreboard.

Thousands of Opera at the Ballpark attendees line up outside AT&T Ballpark.

The stadium fills with anticipation for Samson and Delilah.

Samson and Delilah was transmitted in high-definition
live from the Opera House.

KDFC’s Dianne Nicolini, Hoyt Smith and Rik Malone hosted the “pre-game” events, such as the cheers “Go Samson!” and “Go Delilah!”

Mayor Gavin Newsom welcomes the crowd.

Thousands of patrons enjoyed watching the opera from the baseball field.

Many joined in to sing the opera’s version of “Take Me Out to the Ballgame”:

Take me out to the opera,
Take me out with the crowd.
Buy me seat at the Opera House.
I don’t care if it’s Mozart or Strauss,
For it’s “root, root, root, for the divas,
Bring a friend or a spouse,
For it’s “one, two, three cheers for you”
at the Opera House.
